Thread Count

Thread count is the number of threads that run horizontally and vertically within a 1 square inch of the fabric. A higher thread count means there is less chance of filling wriggling its way out. Higher thread counts make a sheet feel softer and can make have a better quality. Cotton sheets are exceptionally durable and easy to care for. Cotton often has a crisp finish that looks fresh and has an inviting feel. A polycotton sheet is made using durable polyester and soft cotton making it another easy-care option that lasts a long time.

Duvet Covers

A duvet cover will keep your duvet clean and add a nice pop of colour to your room. They come in different materials and prints. You are best off choosing a duvet cover that goes well with the rest of the room. See our range of duvet covers Here

Maintenance: A duvet cover should be washed every two weeks to keep it hygienic and clean. You can normally wash your duvet cover with the rest of your bedding, but always check the care labels sewn into the material to double check.

Sheets

Fitted sheets will cover the whole mattress and will stay in place around all four corners when being used. A fitted sheet will give you a clean crisp finish and will protect the mattress. View our range Here.
Flat sheets can be used in two ways, as an alternative to a fitted sheet- these can be particularly useful for those using a small double bed, as the flat sheet can be placed on top of your mattress topper and securely tucked into the sides. Or, it can be used as a top sheet, which is placed underneath the duvet cover and can be used at night to keep the duvet cover cleaner for longer. View our range Here.

Maintenance: Caring for your linens will help keep them in good shape and ensure you have a clean and hygienic bed to sleep in. We sweat and shed tiny flakes of skin when we sleep so it’s important to protect pillows and mattresses and wash linens regularly to avoid the build-up of bacteria and dust which can lead to health problems like asthma, bronchitis, allergies and eczema.

Bedspreads

A bedspread is an alternative to a quilt, it can be used in the warmer months in replacement of a quilt if you get too hot. Alternatively, it can be used for decorative purposes in the colder months or an extra layer and can be placed on top of the duvet cover. Bedspreads often come in different materials, cotton or linen, wool and cashmere and often feature a pattern or print; it’s wise to choose one that would go with the room. A bedspread can be a good idea for a guest bedroom. See our range Here.

Maintenance: A bedspread has relatively low maintenance; they are relatively thin and lightweight. Meaning throwing it in the washing machine. If you do choose to use a bedspread as your primary blanket, along with bed sheets; try to wash it once a month to keep it clean and hygienic.

Are you an "international shopper" who is browsing numerous websites of various textiles manufactures to find the bedding of your dream? Then, sometimes, you may get confused when it comes to selecting the proper size. Frankly speaking, it's not surprising. The fact is that the measuring system of the UK bedding sizes differs from that of the USA or Australia, for instance. The names of the bed linen or mattress sizes aren't the same worldwide.
Did you know that Small Double bed size exists only in Britain or that the bed referred to as King in the UK bedding size chart is called Queen in the US and Canadian size charts? Therefore, before ordering something, it's a wise idea to get acquainted with the bedding size chart, the manufacturer or seller's website offers.

UK Flat & Fitted Sheet Sizes

Have you ever made desperate efforts while stretching a fitted sheet over your mattress before going to sleep? Even though you seemed to succeed finally, you woke up next morning feeling unrested with your bed sheet crumpled up underneath. The reason is evident - you've bought a fitted sheet of the wrong size. It will never happen to you again if you take the time to study the UK bedding size chart given below and follow our brief recommendations.

If you are going to buy a fitted sheet, you want it to sit on your mattress snugly. It means that its size should be as close to your mattress size as possible. Mattress Toppers & Mattress Protector UK Sizes

It's a simple fact that mattress toppers and mattress protectors should sit flush against your mattress. If they don't fit the dimensions in full, they won't be able to fulfil the intended functions properly. In case you fail to purchase the right size, your bed may look and feel uneven. Besides, if a mattress protector is too tight, it puts stress on the seams and zippers, resulting in a shorter lifespan.

It's quite evident that the size of a mattress topper as that of a mattress protector entirely depends on the size of your mattress. To cope successfully with the task, you should know your mattress length, width, and depth. It will allow you to determine which size mattress topper or protector you need to turn your night sleep into a completely relaxing experience. Our UK bedding sizes guide will help you with it.

Pillow Sizes

Though there is an opinion that the size of a pillowcase doesn’t matter as much as the size of a fitted sheet or mattress topper, it's not quite right. A too big pillowcase will let your pillow shift inside it throughout the night. As a result, it can turn your night sleep into the nightmare. A too small pillowcase can make your softest pillow seem hard and prevent you from enjoying the deserved rest. What’s worse, it may even cause morning headaches and neck pains that last long. Therefore, we couldn’t but include pillow sizes in our UK bedding sizes guide.

As a rule of thumb, a good pillowcase should be about 8-13 cm larger than the pillow itself. As soon as you know the sizes of your pillows, it won't be a problem to calculate the right size of the pillowcase.
